1. Totally new to chess? Learn chess & basics with us!
Learn the moves, basic principles, how to checkmate, and tournament rules in the following videos.
Palm Beach Chess proudly uses Lichess.org as an extension to our classroom component. You can use lichess on your computer or phone, accounts are free! Once you have an account, go to the learn tab and get started on the chess basics. All of our tournament players complete 100% of the activities and get 3 stars in every category.
Can you play through a game and checkmate? If yes, you are ready for your first tournament!
All of our tournaments are rated and a United States Chess Federation membership is required. So where do you get that?
2. Memberships
USCF (United States Chess Federation) membership - it is mandatory for all rated tournaments that chess players have current memberships.
The USCF membership price depends on the age of the player and it's good for 12 months.
Age 18 and Under - $20
Young Adult 19-23 - $27
Adult 25-64 - $45
Senior 65+ - $40
