At Palm Beach Chess, we emphasize the development of essential life skills through a structured and academically grounded chess curriculum led by experienced instructors. Our approach is built on a clear philosophy: meaningful growth requires commitment, discipline, and a genuine passion for learning—both on and off the board.
While many people understand what they should do to improve, true excellence comes from those who consistently take action. Only one percent of chess players achieve the title of Master.

Individual Lessons
At Palm Beach Chess, our commitment to excellence is reflected in the individual attention we give every student. In addition to delivering customized, high-quality instruction, we provide support during competitions to help students maintain strong psychological and strategic focus. This level of dedication is available not only to Florida-based players but also to students worldwide through our online instructional programs.
We believe strongly in the importance of the instructor–student relationship. Our coaches do not follow a one-size-fits-all approach; instead, students play an active role in shaping their training plans. Behind the scenes, our instructors collaborate with one another to ensure each student receives the most effective and well-rounded guidance possible.

Lesson Rates
Our team includes a range of instructors with diverse backgrounds and expertise. Using the information above, we work with you to determine the best instructor match for your needs.
Lesson rates range from $50 per hour to $150 per hour, depending on instructor's credentials.

FAQ
Do instructors travel to students’ homes for lessons?
For the safety and transparency of both students and staff, Palm Beach Chess instructors conduct in-person lessons only in public locations. Online lessons are always available. No exceptions can be made to this policy.
Do you offer lessons for children ages 4–6?
We receive a large number of requests for in-person lessons for young beginners. We rarely accept students in this age range unless they are already actively competing in US Chess events. For new players ages 4–6, we recommend our group programs at the COX Science Center & Aquarium. Please monitor our upcoming events calendar and social media channels for registration announcements.
